Summerville Respite House

Summerville respite house is a large five bedroom house based in the community in a popular area of Waterford City, this house has been recently refurbished to become a purpose designed facility for use by persons with an Intellectual Disability, who have low support care needs- including some support with activities of daily living. Adult residents are supported to attend work and recreational activities and to engage actively in their community

Residents avail of respite breaks in Robin hill and Summerville in groups of up to 5 people. Respite Houses is to provide a residential respite service wherein residents are supported to access their local community, to develop their independence and enjoy a time with their peers.

The objective of the service is to provide a home from home environment in accordance with evidence based best practise, which reflects the service users’ lifestyle.

WIDA applies a person centred approach and promotes equal opportunities, enabling the service user to become an active, valued member of the community.

Respite services is committed to working to ensure our service users are always at the centre of the service, and are fully involved in decisions affecting all aspects of their life, so that they are enabled to lead as independent and satisfying life as possible.

Both house are maintained to a high standard, Fire safety standards are adhered to. HIQA designated centres registered and inspected by HIQA.

Robin Hill Respite

Robin Hill is a 6 bedroom purpose built house, in a residential estate in Killure, for adults and children who have severe and/or profound intellectual disabilities.

Located in the Killure Manor estate in Waterford City, Robin Hill is a community based house. Residents are encouraged to be involved in their local community during their respite visit. Each resident has their own bedroom. Four rooms share two bathroom and two bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities.

The kitchen come dining area is open plan allowing for service users to participate in preparation of meals and to engage in dialogue when meals are being prepared. Robin Hill also has a play room, a communal sitting room and a conservatory which allows for personal space if residents wish to have private space.

All houses are maintained to a high standard, Fire safety standards are adhered to. HIQA designated centres registered and inspected by HIQA.
