Low arousal stress management
Recently staff in WIDA have undergone training from Studio 3, a UK based company that promotes a low arousal stress management approach. What this means is that we are all now focused on creating the most relaxing environment possible in our day, residential and respite services, in order to support any service users or staff members who may be experiencing anxiety for any reason.
In our day service, we have brought in a number of education programs for service users around stress management, with a focus on empowering service users to explore different ways of coping with stress and to discover what works for them. We have so far been very encouraged to see service users requesting some of their calming tools, like hot water bottles or a massage, in times of anxiety.
Learning to manage stress is a lifelong journey for all of us, and here at WIDA we are proud to say that empowering our service users and staff to manage their stress and achieve their optimum state of wellness is at the forefront of our minds.
