Hello and Welcome to our website. I am Matt Bolger, Chairman of Waterford Intellectual Disability Association (WIDA). WIDA is a provider of services to adults and children with disabilities. These services include Residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities, Respite services both residential and day for adults and children with intellectual disability and Day services for adults.

Since our foundation in 1987 by a group of parents and friends; WIDA has been actively involved in the development of community based services for children and adults with an intellectual disability and their families. The first service opened by WIDA was Spring Garden, a day service for adults right in the heart of Waterford City.

Since then WIDA has grown and now provides three day services in the Waterford area, a state of the art respite house catering for children with higher support needs, a pool/spa specially designed to cater for people with physical disabilities, adult respite, adult residential services.

The Waterford Intellectual Disability Association Limited (WIDA) is a Limited Company, overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors comprising parents and friends of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

WIDA seeks to promote the inclusion and independence of persons with intellectual disabilities through: care, work, leisure, advocacy, activation, education, supported living, respite, service development and awareness of the community.

Our Ethos: WIDA is committed to working to ensure our participants are always at the centre of our service. We make certain that the participant is fully involved in decisions affecting all aspects of their life, so that they are enabled to lead as independent and satisfying life as possible.

Our Aims

The aims of the respite service offered by WIDA is to provide a residential setting, for adults, where residents are cared for, supported and valued within a care environment that promotes the health and well being of service users.
